Frequently asked questions
Typically, one lesson is 30 minutes long, but many students choose to practice for an hour (2 lessons) each day.
If your regular lesson is only 30 minutes, you may request an extension, depending on your tutor’s availability.
Each student may book up to 3 lessons per day, either consecutively or at different times.
Please coordinate directly with your tutor if you'd like to arrange a longer session or adjust your schedule.
Yes. All cancellations require at least 3 hours notice.
Please understand that tutors reserve time specifically for each student. If you cancel with less than 3 hours’ notice, the lesson will be considered used and non-refundable, as that time slot can no longer be offered to someone else.
However, if there is a medical emergency, please let us know—we completely understand that unexpected things can happen.
To cancel, kindly notify the tutor by email and through your usual lesson platform (e.g., Skype, KakaoTalk, or Zoom).
This situation is extremely rare, but in the unlikely event that your tutor does not show up for your scheduled class, you’ll receive a free 30-minute lesson—no expiration date.
Alternatively, if this happens, please contact us at speakglish1@gmail.com ()(via Skype or email) within the first 5 minutes of your scheduled lesson time, and we’ll do our best to assign an available tutor right away.
We provide the materials. From interesting conversations, debates and discussions to pronunciation improvement, accent reduction and vocabulary building, our ever-expanding library of student-focused content makes it easy to find materials relevant to your language needs.
However, you can always “bring your own topic”. It is important that you enjoy conversation practices to sustain your drive to speak fluently in English.
Technical Issues
Zoom, Skype, KakaoTalk, and the Tutors’ ISPs (including backups) are generally reliable. In rare cases where technical issues beyond the Tutor’s control occur, your plan validity may be extended to accommodate any cancelled lessons.
Scheduling Conditions
Students are responsible for checking notifications from the Tutor regarding any schedule changes. Discuss your preferred schedule for the month with your Tutor. If you need to reschedule a class, please notify your Tutor at least 3 hours before the scheduled time. Otherwise, the class will proceed as planned.
Payment and Refund Policy
All payments must be made in advance before lessons begin. Accepted payment methods include PayPal, Wise (formerly TransferWise), Western Union, and bank transfer. Refunds are granted only in exceptional cases at the Tutor’s discretion. Unused lessons are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Free or trial lessons have no monetary value and cannot be redeemed for cash.
Lesson Content and Copyright
All lesson materials (including lesson plans, exercises, audio, and video content) are the Tutor’s intellectual property. Students may use these materials for personal learning only and may not redistribute, resell, or reproduce them without prior written permission.
Student Responsibilities
Students must attend lessons on time, come prepared, and actively participate. Repeated no-shows or late arrivals without prior notice may result in termination of lessons without refund. Students are responsible for maintaining a stable internet connection and necessary devices for online lessons.
Limitation of Liability
Speakglish and its Tutors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the tutoring services. While every effort is made to provide quality lessons, individual results may vary, and no guarantees are made regarding language proficiency improvements.
Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy
Cancellations require at least 3 hours’ notice. Cancellations with less than 3 hours’ notice or missed lessons without notice will be counted as completed lessons. Extensions to lesson validity may be granted for documented emergencies.
Code of Conduct
Students are expected to communicate respectfully and professionally at all times. Harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior toward the Tutor or others will not be tolerated and may result in immediate termination of lessons without refund.
Termination
Either party may terminate the tutoring agreement at any time with written notice. Upon termination, any unused paid lessons remain the Tutor’s property and are non-refundable unless otherwise agreed.
Privacy Policy
Speakglish respects your privacy and will never share your information with third parties for any reason.
Third Party Resources
Speakglish’s website and services may include links to third-party websites and resources. We are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, content, or policies. Links do not imply endorsement or affiliation. You assume all risks from using third-party sites.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Speakglish and its Tutors from any claims, damages, costs, or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms or your use of the service. You will cooperate with us in any defense and not settle claims without our consent.
Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of [Your Country/State].
