DON'T BE AFRAID TO MAKE MISTAKES. Remember that your goal is to convey a message, not to deliver a grammatically perfect sentence. Relax. Even native speakers make mistakes. Focus on fluency improvement, rather than grammar. Experts say that grammar naturally improves as fluency and comprehension skills improve.
PRACTICE WITH MUSIC AND MOVIES. The more you hear, the easier it will be for you to speak better English. Listen to music in English and sing along. Watch movies or TV dramas in English, with subtitles if you need them, and watch the same programs over and over until you're comfortable to turn off subtitles. Most people find that they understand more each time. Listening helps you become familiar with the rhythms and intonations of English.
TALK TO YOURSELF. It might sound funny, we know, but this can be a very effective way to practice spoken English. Say your thoughts out loud, "I love this coffee.", "Where did I put the bottle of honey?", "I need to stack on rice and milk." Do this regulary because it will help you become comfortable in expressing your thoughts in English.
THINK IN ENGLISH. You can do this anywhere and anytime. Think in English when you're thinking about your plans for the day or when you're deciding on what food to have for lunch. Start small. Start with nouns, verbs and adjectives until it becomes more of a habit. Then move on phrases and sentences by describing your surroundings, feelings, plans, etc.
FIND AN ENGLISH SPEAKING PARTNER. This is where we come in. Learn a lot of nuances about the language you would not otherwise learn in a traditional English class in schools. English Tutors have the ability to easily use and teach native expressions, slang vocabulary or idiomatic expressions. Regular speaking practice brings students' proficiency to the next level.
HAVE FUN. Research proves you learn more and you learn fast when you are having fun. Talk about topics that you find interesting. Chill. Think about your progress instead of your boboos.
